Seeker or Enslaved: Spiritual Discernment for Kids in the AI Age
Rev. Jong Dae Choi - Pastor & CEF Missionary
The world is changing rapidly with new technology advancing all the time. Parents and kids alike have to navigate these new resources, both as helpful tools and potentially dangerous pitfalls. This session is designed to help teachers learn and partner with parents to lead their kids in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Just as once-thriving businesses declined because they resisted change, the church risks becoming irrelevant if it ignores the realities shaping the next generation. Yet, our call is not to blindly embrace every innovation but to wisely discern how these tools can be used for God’s glory. Teachers will learn how to guide children to approach AI, not as passive consumers becoming enslaved by technology, but as seekers of truth who remain grounded in Scripture. By integrating AI thoughtfully, we can enhance learning, spark creativity, and encourage deeper engagement while equipping children with critical thinking and strong moral character. This session will provide practical insights, biblical principles, and teaching strategies to help parents and teachers prepare children to live faithfully and wisely in a digital age.
Digging for Treasure: Creative Ways for Kids and Teachers to Discover God's Truths
Rev. Jong Dae Choi - Pastor & CEF Missionary
The Word of God is filled with treasure! Too often, we are tempted to rely exclusively on pre-written materials without developing the ability to encounter God’s Word for ourselves. This workshop is designed to equip teachers with the skills and passion to study the Bible inductively—observing, interpreting, and applying Scripture with depth and clarity. This session will help teachers grow spiritually independent, discovering the richness of the Bible like hidden treasure. By learning how to dig deeper, you will not only strengthen your own faith but also gain creative ways to make Scripture come alive for children. We’ll share practical strategies will on how to guide kids into exploring the text, asking good questions, and applying biblical truth to their daily lives. Teachers will leave inspired and equipped to nurture a generation of children who don’t just hear Bible stories but learn to love, understand, and live God’s Word.
Teaching Children to Love Jesus
Betsy Maddox - Metro Director for CEF of NYC
From the book of Genesis and throughout the Scriptures, God has been very clear that we are to bring up the next generations of children to love, obey and to serve Him. But are our children’s ministries, parents, and teachers being intentional to show today’s children who Jesus is so they can love and live for Him? This workshop will explore ten ideas you can put into practice right away to teach the children in your care to know and love Jesus.
Managing Your Classroom
Josiah Maddox - Pastor & CEF Missionary
Teaching would be so easy if the kids just sat still and listened! But that’s not what kids were made to do for very long, and that’s ok! So what do you do when that boy keeps climbing under the table, or when that girl is calling other kids mean names? How do you keep the kids focused on what you’re doing in your group? How do you minimize distractions and make your class time meaningful and impactful? When you manage your classroom intentionally, with the kids in mind, it gets rid of things that distract them from what you're teaching. In this session we’ll explore this together and prepare ourselves to create a group that is ready to learn.
How to Study the Bible: Taking a Daily Emmaus Road Walk
John Romano - Associate Director for CEF USA Ministries
More than anything we can do for God, He wants us to spend time in intimacy with Him. During this session we will delve into the importance of being with Jesus so we can know, love, worship, and serve God better!
Rethinking Volunteer Culture in Kids Ministry
Tanya Velardo - Children's Ministry Director at Renaissance Church NYC
If you're constantly scrambling to find volunteers, you're not alone. But what if the answer isn’t more recruiting—but better retaining? This Kids Ministry-focused workshop draws from The Volunteer Playbook by Nick Blevins and Stop Recruiting, Start Retaining to help you build a sustainable, healthy volunteer culture that lasts. Designed specifically for children’s ministry leaders, below are ways you will learn how to lead others, or help you understand how you can deepen your volunteer commitment in the following ways:
Volunteer care and consistency
Onboarding systems that inspire confidence and clarity
Develop a culture where team members feel known, equipped, and empowered
Address common challenges like burnout, no-shows, and last-minute gaps
Move from desperation to discipleship in volunteer engagement
Start building and being a member of a Kids Ministry team that sticks, thrives, and leads with joy.
Crafting Engaging Experiences in Kids Ministry
Tanya Velardo - Children's Ministry Director at Renaissance Church NYC
What if your children’s ministry program wasn’t just another obligation for kids—but the most exciting, meaningful part of their week? Based on the powerful insights from Creating Experiences for Kids, this workshop equips children’s ministry leaders to go beyond programming and start creating transformational environments that capture kids’ attention and point them to Jesus. In this practical, vision-filled session, you’ll learn how to:
Move from just “doing ministry” to designing intentional, immersive experiences
Use story, environment, and creativity to communicate timeless truths
Engage kids on their level—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually
Build a culture where excellence fuels connection and faith formation
Align your team around a shared mission
If you're ready to stop settling for “good enough” and start creating moments that stick for a lifetime, this workshop is your next step.
Bible Lesson Preparation and Presentation
Monica Winter - Speech Language Pathologist & Good News Club Teacher
The message of salvation is woven throughout the Bible, in the Old Testament and New. This workshop will equip you to highlight and share the Gospel through almost any story in the Bible. Learn to discover gospel parallels throughout the scripture and how to share that clearly with children. As you bring the Gospel to life, you’ll help kids see their own need for a savior and the life found only in Jesus. Make your teaching impactful and give children the opportunity to respond to God’s powerful word.
Raising Kingdom Ambassadors in the Classroom
Jae Yang - High School Teacher, CEO of Agape Education Consulting Group, & Elder at Woori Church
This seminar is designed to inspire and equip Sunday School teachers to see their students not only as learners of Bible stories but as ambassadors of God’s Kingdom, sent daily into their schools. In today’s world, many Christian children feel uncertain about expressing their faith in public schools. This often leads to silence, confusion, or fear. But the truth is, they have both the legal freedom and the spiritual calling to shine their light, pray boldly, and represent Christ with confidence among their peers.
Through this workshop, teachers will be empowered to mentor their students as young witnesses for Christ, providing them with clarity about their rights, courage to live out their convictions, and the encouragement to see their part to play on God’s mission field. Rooted in scripture and supported by practical guidance, this training will equip teachers to send their children into schools not as silent Christians, but as confident, respectful, and Spirit filled ambassadors of Jesus Christ.
