General Session Speaker

Pastor Dave Watson has been the Senior Pastor at Calvary Chapel since January 1990. Calvary Chapel is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural Church located on the diverse North Shore of Staten Island. He has a Doctor of Divinity Degree from New York Theological Seminary and a Masters of Divinity and Bachelor of Arts Degrees from Liberty Baptist Seminary and Liberty University.

Breakout Sessions

During the conference we will also have two breakout sessions where you can choose your topic from the list below.  This year you will be able to jump right into the breakout session of your choice without having to decide in advance.

  • Workshop Session 1 options:

  • Teaching God’s Word Beyond Disability

    Mirna Herbert

God's word is for every child, though children hear it and learn in many different ways.  Some kids have very unique obstacles to overcome. This workshop will show you simple and fun ways to teach God’s word to children who have cognitive, neurological and/or developmental disorders.

  • Interactive and Responsive Virtual Teaching Skills

    Jong Dae Choi

Being able to teach online has opened up new avenues of ministry, but it’s also brought on great challenges.  In this session we’ll focus on practical virtual teaching skills to create an interactive and engaging online experience!  Help the kids you teach connect with God through impactful online teaching!

  • Keeping Kids Right-Side Up in an Upside-Down World

    Josiah Maddox

Children will all face a point of crisis in their lives.  Some are personal while others are more general, but God wants to use you in those moments.  We can help prepare the children to trust God in the difficult times and give them godly counsel as they go through them.  Let’s give the kids what they need to stay right side up in an upside down world.

  • Workshop Session 2 options:

  • Dealing with LGBT and Identity Issues with Children

    Chris Kotecha

What would Jesus do about the LGBT issues that today’s children confront on a daily basis? Does the Bible speak to our modern society? In this practical workshop you will be equipped with ways to address these issues in a Biblical context and remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.

  • Lead Small - Five Big Ideas Every Small Group Leader Needs to Know

    Tanya Velardo

If you're a small group leader/Good News Club teacher/children’s church worker, you believe in the power of community.  This workshop helps clarify the responsibilities of the small group leader who works with children and teenagers.  When you lead small, you realize that what you do for a few has more potential than what you do for many. When you lead small, you choose to invest in the lives of a few to encourage authentic faith.

  • Growing the Christian Child in Troubled Times

    Cathy Peek (CEF of Georgia)

There has never been more critical circumstances coming against the child than at this moment in time. We must embrace and encourage the children… or risk losing them! This class emphasizes the fragile state of the Christian child, and provides an abundance of simple, creative, hands-on ideas to encourage, nurture, and strengthen vital spiritual skills in the child’s life for victorious living.
